Legend has it that a seaman out of colonial New England by 
the name of William Morse turned to the ways of the privateer--
stealing merchant vessels, pillaging wealthy seaports, and
associating with the likes of Captain Kidd. 

Morse hoarded a wealth of treasure at a secret location known
only as Dead Man’s Grotto, and he managed to evade capture 
until one stormy eve, after a night his crew had been celebrating 
and drinking, his ship was ambushed by a military vessel outside
 his secret cove. 

After an exchange of broadside cannon fire, Morse's ship sustained 
heavy damage and sank to the bottom of the bay with a loss of
 all hands. As the vessel foundered into the cold waters,
reportedly, the captain's last words were,
